What is LabMatch?

Labmatch is a platform to bring laboratories, individuals and companies from developed and underdeveloped countries together for the voluntary sharing of research reagents, equipment and expertise.

Why LabMatch?

From our experience, we have seen that often some reagents and equipment are wasted/thrown away in laboratories in the developed countries. However, donation of these reagents and equipment to the laboratories of the developing world can benefit them to generate new knowledge and expertise in science. LabMatch will provide a framework to make this connection happen.

How LabMatch works?

LabMatch is an online exchange platform to distribute laboratory reagents and equipment from developed countries to the developing countries. LabMatch will connect the donors and the receivers for maximum utilisation of scientific resources around the world. It will allow any person, lab, organisation to list the items they want to donate or receive. From the listed items on the LabMatch platform, registered users will be able to match their offers or requests. The platform will also maintain a database of volunteers (mainly students) who are planning to travel between those countries. The volunteers will be sent a message about the package they have to carry and deliver. On an agreed date, the volunteer will collect the item(s) from the donor lab/person/organisation. When they will visit their countries, they will deliver the item(s) to the recipient lab/person/orgnaisation. Graduate students from developing countries will be the primary group of volunteers to carry the items to their home countries.
